Hundreds of employees at Pembrokeshire's two LNG terminals have walked out in support of sacked workers at the Lindsey oil refinery.

Workers at Dragon LNG downed tools on Friday, with 230 employees at South Hook LNG following suit today (Monday).

"Some of our contractors' work force left site this morning," said a spokesman for dragon LNG on Friday.

"We understand this is in support of industrial action taking place elsewhere in the country."

South Hook LNG confirmed this morning (Monday) that some of their workforce is also off site.

“I can confirm that approximately 230 of the contract construction workforce working on the build of Phase Two at the South Hook terminal near Milford Haven have walked off site today," said a spokesman.

"We understand this action is linked to the recent industrial relations activity at the Lindsey Oil refinery.

"We believe the parties involved are taking steps to resolve matters with their contract employees and it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time.

"I can however confirm that normal operations at South Hook are not affected by this action.”

The workers have walked out in sympathy with 650 employees at the Lindsey oil refinery who were sacked and told to reapply for their jobs after taking unofficial strike action.

At present workers are not demonstrating outside the gates of the LNG terminals but seemed to have stopped work and gone home.
