Shareholders have asked Dragon LNG to explore the feasibility of a third tank on the site in Waterston.

The news comes just weeks after the liquefied natural gas importing and storage facility was officially opened by Secretary of State for Wales Peter Hain.

A spokesman for Dragon LNG said: “As previously stated we have planning permission for a third tank.

“Now the facility has been commissioned our shareholders have asked Dragon to look at the feasibility of a third tank, but no decision has yet been taken.”

Last week South Hook LNG announced that commissioning of phase one at its terminal in Milford Haven had successfully been completed and is now commercially operational, with phase two expected to be completed early next year.

When fully commissioned the terminal will have a processing capacity of 15.6million tonnes per annum.
