Former Greenhill School pupil, Sion Smith, is limbering up for the ride of his life, tomorrow (Saturday).
He will embark on a charity 700 kilometre cycle ride through Central Sion, who grew up in Tenby, has been training hard for the event, which is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, cycling up to 60 miles a day, with gym sessions in-between.
Sion was deputy head boy at Greenhill in 2001 before leaving to study computer science at Cardiff University, The 26-year-old now lives in London where he a director of a Java software consultancy.
"I will be cycling from Panama into Costa Rica and finishing in Nicaragua," he said "This trip has never been done before, and although it is organised by Macmillan, there will be a lot of responsibility on the participants."
The riders will be backed up by support trucks carrying food and water supplies, together with their overnight camping equipment, but will be expected to make their own navigational decisions and organise camp set-up.
Sion expects to complete the ride on December 3rd.
