Manorbier kids promote community centre showing of Alice and the White Rabbit by Indigo Moon Theatre Company

A production that has been promoted by children from Manorbier primary school goes on show at the village’s community centre on Sunday.

The youngsters from years five and six have been working with Manorbier and District Community Arts Progamme (Madcap) to promote and market the shadow puppet show, Alice and the White Rabbit.

The show is being staged by Indigo Moon Theatre Company, and the pupils have been writing press releases, distributing posters and leaflets and advertising it on websites across Pembrokeshire.

They will also help to set up the community centre for the show on Sunday, organising blackout curtains, arranging seating and helping the theatre company to unload and re-load, as well as selling tickets and refreshments.

Alice and the White Rabbit is supported by the Arts Council of Wales and Pembrokeshire County Council, through the Night Out scheme, which gives communities the opportunity to book professional performers without taking a financial risk.

The scheme supports a young promoters programme to enable young people to get involved in promotion.

Said Madcap secretary Angela Rogers: "This has been a great opportunity for young people to learn about arts administration, marketing and promotion, which are all useful transferable skills now and in later life and career choices, as well as developing their written language skills."

The show will take place at 2pm on Sunday. It is suitable for children aged four upwards and families. Tickets are available from Madcap on 01834 871931.
