Dyfed-Powys Police issues fuel security warning after Crymych fuel theft

Dyfed-Powys Police is warning residents to look after their heating oil, following the theft of £500 of domestic fuel from the Crymych area.

Police have said that there has been an increase in fuel thefts, particularly around Crymych, due to the rise in the price of domestic heating oil.

Police are urging both households and businesses to take a few simple steps to prevent them becoming a victim of crime.

People are urged to check oil levels on a regular basis; consider erecting fencing around the fuel tank, especially if it is plastic; fit a quality anti-cut close-shackled padlock to a steel tank and consider installing security lighting .

Anyone who has witnessed people behaving suspiciously, or going out with drums and pipes which are used to steal fuel, to contact their local police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
