Safer Pembrokeshire roadshows kicks off today

Road shows to help the elderly feel safer in Pembrokeshire kicks off today (Wednesday).

"Although Pembrokeshire has a low crime rate sometimes people,in particular the elderly, do not feel safe," said a spokesman for Dyfed-Powys police.

Safer Pembrokeshire is holding the free events in De Valence pavilion, Tenby today and the Picton Centre Haverfordwest next Wednesday.

Both events will run between 10am and 4pm.

Information, advice and equipment will be available on the days from Dyfed Powys Police Bobby Van, the Burglary Reduction Officer, Age Concern, Lifeline/Telecare, Trading Standards, Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service, Anti Social Behaviour Reduction Coordinators, Older People's Strategy and the Good Neighbour Scheme.

Alison Rogers, Safer Pembrokeshire's community safety co-ordinator, said: "Older people can often feel isolated in their communities but in Pembrokeshire there are lots of agencies out there which can help them feel safe.

"We would welcome any of the older generation to pop into the road shows for coffee and a chat."
