A 62-year-old man was evacuated from Skomer on Saturday suffering from an infected foot and leg.
The man had been volunteering on Skomer Island when he picked up the infection.
At 10am on Saturday Milford Haven coastguard HQ was contacted by the warden on the island. They established a tele-connect call with a doctor at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary who recommended evacuation.
As it was too rough for the island's own boat to launch, Little Haven inshore lifeboat was tasked to evacuate the man.
He was taken to shore at Martins Haven and met by an awaiting land ambulance, which transferred him to Withybush Hospital.
