North Pembrokeshire pair set for coast path challenge to raise funds for Ty Hafan and RNLI

A pair of north Pembrokeshire men who will set off on a walk of the county’s coast path tomorrow (Friday) will hold a quiz night tonight (Thursday) to help raise funds for their chosen charities.

Dan Craft, originally from Llanrhian, and James Wilmott, of Fishguard, will walk the 186 miles in memory of Dan’s father Steve, who died earlier this year.

They hope to raise £5,000, which will be split between Ty Hafan, the children’s hospice of Wales, and Fishguard and St Davids RNLI lifeboat stations.

Dan said:

“Dad died very suddenly after suffering a massive brain haemorrhage.

“I decided I wanted to do something in his memory, and at the same time, hopefully raise some money for some very good causes.

“Dad was very active and healthy right to the end, and there was nothing he liked more than exploring the Pembrokeshire coastline —either in his boat, or by foot on the coast path.

“When we were thinking of a challenge to undertake, this one stood out as particularly relevant and a perfect way to remember him.”

Starting at Amroth tomorrow (Friday), the pair plan to complete the walk to St Dogmaels in two weeks, averaging 14 miles a day and camping along the way.

They have already raised more than £3,000 through sponsorship and events, and a quiz night will be held in aid of the fund at the Coach House, Fishguard, tonight, starting at 8pm.
