A second Milford Haven man will contest next year’s Welsh Assembly elections in Preseli Pembrokeshire.

Terry Mills has been chosen to fight for Labour in the constituency, joining fellow Milford man Rhys Sinnett (Plaid) on the list of candidates.

Mr Mills was born and brought up in Milford Haven, where he lives with his wife Andrea.

He is a former entrepreneur, business advisor and chief executive of Prime Cymru, a charity created by the Prince of Wales. In this role he encouraged and supported older people to find work and to start their own businesses. He has also been elected on three occasions as a Labour county councillor.

Mr Mills said: “I am extremely proud to have been selected by the local Labour party members to represent them at the Assembly elections.

“I will fight to protect jobs and public services in Pembrokeshire. Why should the most vulnerable in our county be the ones to pay the highest price for the mistakes of the greedy bankers and international financiers that brought about the global recession?”

Speaking after the selection at a packed meeting in Fishguard, constituency president Alan Roach said: “The members have chosen a local man with an enormous amount of experience and who is clearly committed to the county. I am sure that Terry will be working hard to win the seat back for Labour.”

Mr Mills will be available at the Labour party stall at the Pembrokeshire County Agricultural Show, in the Prendergast Arena, and would like to meet as many people as possible to discuss their concerns.
