Mother and child flown to hospital after tree fall drama

A planned ITV series about Anna Ryder Richardson's Manor House wildlife park has been delayed following the accident which left a mum and son seriously injured.

Emergency services raced to Manor House Wildlife Park, St Florence, on Tuesday morning, following reports that a tree had come down, trapping and seriously injuring a woman and three-year-old child.

At around 11.33am two fire appliances from Tenby were called to the incident along with police and paramedics.

Firefighters used small gear to free the woman and child. Both were removed from under the tree by 11.49.

An ambulance, rapid response vehicle, air ambulance and duty officer attended the scene.

The three-year-old patient has sustained a serious head injury and the woman a head injury, possible fractured femur, pelvis and humerus.

The mother and child, believed to be from Llanelli, were evacuated from the park by air ambulance and flown directly to Morriston Hospital, Swansea.

They are both said to be in a stable condition.

Fire crews reported the incident dealt with at 12.14pm.

Dyfed-Powys Police said they are investigating the incident along with Pembrokeshire County Council's Health and Safety Team.

Officers from the council’s Public Protection Division returned to Manor Park, near St Florence today and met with a tree specialist on site.

Manor House Wildlife Park is owned by TV star Anna Ryder Richardson. A new series about the park was due to begin on ITV Wales at 7.30pm on Tuesday, August 31st.

But today ITV confirmed that the show will now be on at a later date.

In a statement Anna and her husband Colin MacDougall said: "We are absolutely devastated by this and our only concern is for the little boy and his mother. "Our thoughts are with them and their family."

A spokesman added that Anna was on the scene at the time and was "one of the first people to help."
