The charity WaterAid is reminding Pembrokeshire people that there are only a few days left to register to take part in a fundraising walk around the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
‘Coast Along for WaterAid’ is a sponsored walk on sections of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. The aim is to raise money to provide clean drinking water, toilets and hygiene education for some of the world’s poorest people in Africa and Asia.
Teams from across Wales and the UK have already entered and will be coming to the county on September 11th for the second annual event.
Coast Along for WaterAid is already established as a highly successful activity on the South West Coast Path of England, and Water Aid is hoping for a similar success in Anglesey where the event is being held for the first time.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water workers were the first in Wales to sign up for the walk. Their WaterAid representative, Jo Hobbs, said: “The WaterAid Coast Along event will be held in Pembrokeshire on Saturday 11th September 2010 and I would urge anyone that would like to take part to register now. There will be teams of people from the county and the rest of the UK tackling sections of the coastal path, raising money through sponsorship. Sections can be easy or challenging, depending on which path people choose to walk – but the important thing is that we get lots of people coming along and raising money for a very good cause.
“Last year’s event was a great success and we are hoping that people will come along again this year to enjoy the walk and help raise lots of money for this worthy cause.”
Details of the event and registration can be seen at www.coastalongforwateraid.org
