Stackpole open day to reveal hidden treasures

The Stackpole National Trust team is inviting people of all ages and interests to experience what makes the 2,000 acre estate so special by going along to a free open day in September.

Your Stackpole takes place over the weekend of September 10th/11th at the Stackpole Centre. On the Friday night, there will be a bat walk and moth trap, led by the Countryside Council for Wales senior reserve manager at Stackpole.

The open day on Saturday, September 11th will start at 11am with a fair celebrating the International Year of Biodiversity. Walkers, wildlife lovers, beach fans, bird watchers and botanists will find something to enjoy and can talk to the people who look after the coast and countryside.

Families can get stuck into activities ranging from pond dipping to craft sessions and learning to fish with professionals from the Pembrokeshire Federation of Angling Coaches.

Stands representing churches, schools and the WI will tell visitors about the local area. They will be joined by others displaying different aspects of life, ranging from farming and sport to beekeeping.

Wendy Marmara, Stackpole’s visitor experience officer said: “We look forward to welcoming people of all ages and interests to enjoy a day in spectacular surroundings where they can learn more about the estate and the activities that take place here.”

Booking for the bat walk is essential – call 01646 661618 to reserve a place. For more information contact Wendy Marmara, Stackpole rediscovered visitor experience officer at Wendy.Marmara@national trust.org.uk or on 01646 661618.
