A Newport man is to stand trial accused of attacking a 77 year-old man.

Craig Wilmott, aged 28, appeared before Judge Peter Heywood at Swansea crown court today for a plea and case management hearing.

Wilmott, of Maes Ingli, Parrog, denied assaulting John Selwyn Harris on June 14 causing him actual bodily harm.

Wilmott was told a one day trial would be held later this month. He was granted bail meanwhile.
