A popular and inspirational Pembrokeshire primary school head teacher has died.

Tributes have been paid to mother-of-three Judy Griffiths, of Pwll-caerog Farm, Berea near St Davids, who died on Saturday, aged 46, after a short illness last weekend.

Mrs Griffiths was head teacher of Ysgol Ger-y-Llan, Letterston, and of Mathry VC School.

They diversified their farm to provide education and tourism, for groups of school children.

Mrs Griffiths went to Golden Manor and Grove School and was head girl at Bush School, Pembroke before studying for her degree at Trinity College, Carmarthen, and starting her career at at the Meads Infants School, Milford Haven, and at Fishguard Infants School.

Last year, Mrs Griffiths worked in County Hall for two terms as an advisory teacher for the revised curriculum and best practice in teaching and learning, before being appointed head of Ysgol Ger-y-Llan last September.

Cabinet member for children, young people, learning and the Welsh language, Councillor Huw George, said: “Judy was instrumental in developing the best education opportunities for young people in her area and that will be her legacy.”
