Three of Pembrokeshire’s main energy companies have come to the rescue of the Torch Theatre after it suffered a series of problems with its main house digital audio system.

South Hook LNG, Valero and Dragon LNG joined forces to fund a vital new piece of equipment.

Delivering everything that the Milford Haven theatre needs for the 300-capacity Main House, it also allows the theatre to match the quality of the largest venues in Wales.

The Theatre’s technical manager, Andrew Sturley, said: “We had a 24 channel digital desk but encountered problem after problem with it.

“In fact, during the course of a year we had to have four replacements and eventually ended up without any console at all, which is when our sponsors stepped in.”

A multi-function venue, the Torch Theatre’s Main House caters for plays, films, live music, dance and conferences.

The Torch has recently began showing live transmissions of high profile stage shows, including by the National Theatre, which places demands on the audio system.

Torch artistic director Peter Doran said: “Through the generous and speedy support of Dragon LNG, Valero, and South Hook LNG we not only replaced the console, but found a quality product with much greater reliability.

“It has transformed our audio system from being mediocre to excellent. We couldn’t have done this without them.”

Wendy Goldsworthy, of Dragon LNG, said: “As well as entertainment for everyone, the theatre also provides much needed training opportunities for young people.”

Jane James, Valero’s manager for policy, Government and public affairs, said Valero was delighted to continue supporting the arts.

South Hook LNG PR manager, Mariam Dalziel, added: “We are not only pleased to continue our support for the Torch Theatre, but delighted to be linking with our colleagues at Dragon LNG and Valero to collectively ensure that Pembrokeshire continues to benefit from such a fabulous variety of entertainment.”
