Young entrepreneurs of the future will be given a helping hand to develop their business ideas at a pilot event being held at Pembrokeshire College tomorrow (Wednesday).

Big Ideas Wales, a Welsh Government campaign to encourage more young people under 25 to start their own business in Wales, will bring successful entrepreneurial role models and young people together to inspire them into taking their ideas to the next level.

“Young people are full of dynamic and enterprising ideas but often think they can’t do anything about it because they’re too young or just not experienced enough,” said Ben Joakim event organiser and entrepreneur.

“At the event we hope to get everyone thinking about their own ideas for business, understand more about what’s involved and put them in touch with people who can give further advice and support”

“Big Ideas Wales also brings together experienced role models who’ve already been there and done it and can provide the inspiration for the next generation to realise their ideas are realistic and they can start their own business.”

Sara Maynard from Saundersfoot is one of the role models at the Big Ideas Wales workshops. She was in a high-flying sales career when she decided she could do more with her passion by setting up her own business. Her first business was a successful restaurant and hotel before establishing her own coaching business.

“I was in sales and marketing and it was very high pressure. There was nothing wrong with that, but I wasn’t happy and I had a passion to have my own business. I’m here to demonstrate that you can turn an idea and a passion into reality if you put your mind to it,” said Sara.
