One of the controversial quartet of wind turbine applications for south Pembrokeshire could be ‘called in’ by the Welsh Government.
A request for the process has been made in relation to the proposal for a 500kw turbine at Hill Farm, Ludchurch.
The plan is awaiting determination by Pembrokeshire County Council, but if the ‘call in’ procedure is implemented, it would mean the final decision is made by a planning inspector.
Three other wind turbine applications are currently in the pipeline – including one being made by Princes Gate Spring Water for two structures that would be the highest in Pembrokeshire.
This is being viewed with alarm by protesters, including the Pembrokeshire branch of the Campaign for Protection of Rural Wales and SOS (Save our Skylines).
As the Western Telegraph reported last week, the county council has recognised the controversy over the impact of large turbines on the Pembrokeshire landscape and is to carry out an assessment on the cumulative impact of the proposals.
