Controversial farm plans recommended for refusal

Controversial plans for a ‘low impact development’ near Trefin will go before Pembrokeshire Coast National Park planners for the second time today (Wednesday).

As previously reported, the applicant Tom O’Kane and his family hope to build a sustainable family home, farm shop and small holding on six hectares of land adjacent to Binchurn Farm between Trefin and Penparc.

The original application passed before the authority’s development management committee on December 14th 2011, where members voted for a site visit, which took place on January 9th.

Amendments have been submitted including the relocation of the main buildings and replacement of the associated wind turbine with a ground mounted solar panel array.

The original plans received more than 200 objections, with over 100 more being received during a consultation about the amended plans. Llanrhian and Mathry Community Councils have also objected.

Officers are recommending refusal of the application when it goes before the authority’s development management committee today (Wednesday).

The meeting is being held at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel, at 10am.

200 objections? some people will not let you breathe. The alternative element of society should be encouraged. Low impact is a clue to the fact that if it didn't work, the land would revert to its original state. Once again we see the narrow minded present system, attempting to wreck the dreams of individuals, that think outside the box. Good luck to Tom and his family, I hope your dreams come true.
