A Haverfordwest store is one of 333 across the UK and Ireland to survive the chop, after retail giant Game entered administration on Tuesday, March 27th.
News that the Game Group was to enter administration broke last week, leading many to fear it would be game over for thousands of employees, including the eight at its branch located in Haverfordwest’s Riverside Shopping centre.
Administrators Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) has closed 277 stores in the UK and Ireland leading to more than 2000 redundancies, with joint administrator and PwC partner Mike Jervis confirming the remaining stores would “stay open as normal while the administrators continue their efforts to find a purchaser for the business”.
PwC have had to suspended use of Game reward cards, which means points can be earned but not redeemed until further notice.
Mr Jervis added: “Our priority is to continue trading the business as normal while we continue to pursue a sale.”
PwC confirmed it was liaising with “a number of parties” interested in purchasing the business.
