Hundreds of school children from across Pembrokeshire paraded through Haverfordwest this morning to welcome next year's Urdd National Eisteddfod.

School children, young people, and adults all came out to support the Eisteddfod and enjoy a festival of singing at County Hall.

Police closed Haverfordwest High Street as the children followed SambaDoc down the town's main street with shoppers and retailers coming out to watch.

Director of the Urdd National Eisteddfod Aled Sion said: "Children and young people will be at the heart of the event which is sure to create an impression on Haverfordwest and Pembrokeshire, if not the whole of Wales.

"We want to put the 2013 Urdd Eisteddfod on the map and we look forward to welcoming as many people from Pembrokeshire as possible to celebrate the forthcoming Eisteddfod."

*At 2.30pm today a football match with members of the Urdd Young People's committee taking on some of Wales' best known TV stars will kick-off at the Bridge Meadow and a concert at Sir Thomas Picton School takes place tonight.
