Student rescued after sea wall fall
1:50pm Monday 14th May 2012 in News
Tenby Inshore lifeboat (ILB) was launched on Friday after a student sustained back injuries falling off a sea wall.
Coastguards received a report from a member of the public that a man had injured himself while jumping off a wall onto the beach some 15ft below him.
The man, a university student on holiday in the area, staggered to the base of the Paragon steps before collapsing in pain.
The ILB was requested due to the high tide and possible inaccessible location of the casualty. The boat arrived on scene the same time as the coastguards.
Two members of crew went ashore to assess the casualty, they then helped administer vital first aid, immobilising the patient and placing him on a spinal board.
He was taken up the cliff path steps to an awaiting ambulance which transferred him to Withybush Hospital.
