Milford Haven Gymnastic Club coach Andy Grey said he is thrilled to be carrying the Olympic Torch flame through Haverfordwest on Sunday.

Nominated for his dedicated work as a gym coach for over three decades, the 62-year-old said: “I am very proud to be representing Milford Haven Gymnastics club.

“I hold dearly the ideology of the Olympics and it is going to be a legacy.”

Each torchbearer is given the opportunity to purchase an Olympic Torch as a momento of the occasion, which Mr Grey is planning to do.

“I have already had a lot of requests to do talks and visit schools with the torch and I hope to share it with anyone who wants to take a photo with it,” he said.

Mr Grey, from Little Haven, says he eventually hopes to place the torch at the gymnastic club and hopes it will serve as an inspiration to all his gymnasts.

Family and friends, including old rugby team mates, will witness him carrying the symbolic flame on his 300metre leg of the journey.

It is expected to attract crowds of hundreds of people along its route.
