A right royal knees-up: where to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in Pembrokeshire

Street parties, music, barbecues, stalls and even talent competitions are stretched all across the long weekend for families to enjoy.

Listed below are just some of the events happening across the county to celebrate Her Majesty's 60 years on the throne.

Saturday, June 2nd.

Party in the park.

Join the party at Merlins Bridge playing field, which kicks off at 11am with a five-aside football match. Then there will be a free tea party for under-12s, and food available for everyone else to buy, plus fancy dress Jubilee King and Queen competition for under-8s, falconry, music and more. Cosheston procession and fete.

The day starts at 11am with a procession from the east and west of the village, with everyone wearing his or her own designed Jubilee hats. The two processions will meet at The Cross and then walk up the hill into the Recreation ground. From 12pm until 2pm, Cosheston VC School will be holding their annual summer fete, and there will be a medieval enactment from The Knights of Longshank. This will be followed by the Royal 'Olympic' Games, a Giant Jubilee Picnic and live music until 9pm.

Be a King or Queen for the day!

10am - 4pm on Charles Street, Milford Haven.

Free Carousel Rides all day and a Royalty-themed dressing up competition at 2pm, for ages up to five, and six to 11 years, plus other stalls and attractions.

Jubilee tea.

To be held by Letterston Community Council for the senior citizens of Letterston from 3pm until 5pm.

Big Jubilee lunch.

Evening of music.

Diamond Jubilee concert.

American Motown band The Four Tops perform at the Old Market Building, Pembroke Dock, supported by Horizontal Favours. There will be a pig roast and bar, and tickets are available from Tiger Lily Florists, Kitchen Store and Adept Dry Cleaners.

RNLI fundraiser.

Fishguard Harbour's north breakwater will be open to the public between 10.30am and 5pm today, to raise money for Fishguard and Goodwick RNLI. The lifeboat station will also be open for refreshments, and visitors will also be able to take a look around the station, and see the inshore lifeboat.

Sailing by.

Dale Sail Past and street party. Dress your vessel to impress and sail past the 'Dale Queen' for a wave at 3pm. All the family is welcome from 1.30pm on the Village Green, for a vintage fayre, live music and fun activities. There will then be fireworks and a bonfire on the beach in the evening.

Evening of music.

Cruiser regatta.

Folly Farm.

To celebrate 350 years of performing together, Punch and Judy will be giving a special Jubilee show every day at 3pm. Fireman Sam and Norman Price will also be at the farm from Sunday until Tuesday, so come down and meet them! For more information, visit www.folly-farm.co.uk.

Medieval medley.

Carew Castle and Tidal Mill will be holding a medley of activities to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, with three events including Bowlore, Pembroke Dock Raptors and a Herb and Craft Fayre. Immerse yourself in times past with sword fighting, archery displays, and displays of armour and blunt weapons to inspire the imagination of any would-be knight, or wander through the Fayre with its herb garden, craft and produce stalls.

Pembroke Castle.

An extended weekend of fun, including the live screening of the BBC's Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace, the lighting of the Pembroke Beacon, face painting, circus workshops and lots more family-friendly events. For more information visit www.pembroke-castle.co.uk.

Sunday, June 3rd.

Fun on the Rath.

Everyone is welcome to join the street party on the Rath, from 1pm until 5pm. Bring your own picnic lunch and enjoy the day's entertainment. There will be over 400 chairs available to enjoy your afternoon tea, or you can bring a blanket and sit in the grassed picnic area. Stilt walkers, musicians, party games, a tug display and more. Dimond Jubilee.

There will be a street party held on Dimond Street, Pembroke Dock, with all proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation. The road will be closed from the end of Laws Street to Gwyther Street for the event to take place, with attractions including children's rides and a barbecue.

Jubilee Jumble.

Milford Haven Port hosts a Jubilee Jumble at Mackerel Quay, Milford Marina, from 10am until 3pm. Enjoy the craft fair, mini funfair, face painting, Phil the Magician and a car boot sale. Street party.

There will be a street party for residents of Glan y Mor Road, Goodwick, their friends and family, and holidaymakers staying in the area. Bring some food and a couple of chairs, and join the barbecue at 2pm. The party will continue until dusk, when there will be a fireworks display. Donations towards set-up costs would be appreciated; all extra money raised will go to a local charity.

Children's fun day.

Barbecue and fun at the New Inn end of Amroth village, with live entertainment in the evening. All proceeds to local charity.

Service of celebration.

Song and prayer at St Mary's Church, Fishguard, from 10.30am, followed by folk music and refreshments at the Church garden.

Sunday, June 3rd - Monday, June 4th.

It's a-maze-ing!

Nevern will be celebrating by having an Open Gardens event to raise funds for village hall. There are six gardens to visit, including a Celtic labyrinth that visitors can explore. Festival of roses.

St Mary's Church, Herbrandston, is celebrating the Jubilee with a Festival of Roses. Dedicate a rose in celebration, remembrance or memoriam to someone special, with all proceeds raised going to the Church roof-repair fund. There will be a choral service at 6pm on Sunday, and the Church will be open to view the roses on June 4th, 5th and 6th. For more information contact Colin Reynolds on 01646 692993.

Monday, June 4th.

Bonfire beacon and fireworks.

As part of the beacon-lighting across the country, there will be a bonfire and fireworks display from 10pm on the Barrack Hill.

Haverfordwest beacon.

Official Jubilee Beacon Party from 7pm at The Showground, Withybush, Haverfordwest. Entertainment, games and bouncy castle, leading up to the lighting of an official Jubilee Beacon. Fun for all the family, free entry and parking.

Red, white and Blue Lagoon.

Bluestone National Park Resort will be celebrating by lighting one of 4,000 beacons that will illuminate the UK's sky next month. They will also have traditional street party stalls, live music, a stilt walker, a magician and circus antics around the Blue Lagoon waterpark.

Millennium beacon.

Goodwick's millennium beacon, based at Harbour Village, will be lit on Monday, June 4th at 10.15pm. Town councillor Bob Wheatley will be lighting the beacon as part of the jubilee celebrations and members of the public are invited to attend.

Solva AFC celebration.

Solva football club celebrates the Jubilee, and its 50th anniversary, with a fun day at the club. From 2pm, join the teddy bear picnic and enjoy stalls, family games, bar, tea and coffee, and competitions. At 5pm the barbecue and family disco begin, and at 10.30pm the Solva beacon will be lit at Harbour Heights (St Brides View). Free entry. More information is available at www.solvanews.co.uk.

Llangwm Jubilee party.

From 4pm, there will be bouncy castles, a barbecue, ice creams, a raffle, and more on Pill Parks Way, organised by the Rugby Club.

Amroth fun-day.

Fun, music and entertainment at Amroth Castle and in the village. From 11am, there'll be slides and stalls, birds of prey, sculpture competitions and more. Pig roast from 5pm, fireworks and beacon lighting in the evening, followed by a band at the Amroth Arms. All proceeds to local charity.

Jubilee tea.

Uzmaston and Boulston will be celebrating with a tea party, cakes and sandwiches, sing-alongs, games and a best crown competition at the Church hall. The fun starts at 4pm.

Queensway Jubilee.

Family fun day for residents of the Queensway, Cherry Grove and surrounding areas, Haverfordwest. Children can decorate their own crowns and eggs for use in the egg and spoon race, enjoy Pin the crown on the Queen and a scavenger hunt, followed by a big street-picnic. Bring along a plate if you can! All ages invited; the fun starts at around 2pm.

Afternoon tea.

Whitland Memorial Hall is hosting a Jubilee afternoon tea from 1pm to 5pm, and everyone is invited. There will be hot and cold refreshments, home-baked cakes, and background music.

Jubilee sleepover.

A giant sleepover for children of primary school age. Youngsters and their parents are invited to join in the sleepover in Parc Dr Owen (Memorial Hall if wet) by bringing a tent, sleeping bag and their favourite food along at 8pm. Activities include face-painting, storytelling, a beetle drive, bingo and a competition to make a 'crown fit for a queen'. Hot soup and bread rolls will be provided.

Village-green party.

Bring your own picnic and enjoy a fun day on Herbrandston Village Green. From 3pm onwards, there'll be a bouncy castle, face painting and competitions. If you feel like coming in fancy dress, the theme is red, white and blue. There will then be a 'disco' in the evening, all ages are welcome.

Spring fayre.

All-day event at St Dogmaels Abbey and the Coach House. From 2pm until 10pm enjoy live music, food, competitions, children's activities and workshops, followed by a grand fireworks display and bonfire finale. Parade of sail.

Cleddau Community Arts' events starts at 5pm outside the Bristol Trader, Haverfordwest. There will be a Diamond Jubilee-themed fancy dress competition all ages, 1950s games, music and dancing with the Pembrokeshire Jive Group, the Hornpipe danced by the Pembroke Dock Sea cadets, and Beating of the Retreat by the 948 (Haverfordwest and City of St Davids) Squadron ATC. At 6pm the Jubilee Parade of Sail flotilla will arrive at the Quay.

Get growing!

Join Head Gardener Steve Whitehead and his team at Colby Woodland Garden, Amroth, and get planting! Children will be encouraged to get their hands dirty and learn how easy it is to plant seeds and watch them grow. Families can also in a tree planting session or help Christine with flowers in the Walled Garden. Family fun will take place from 11-3.30pm and normal admission applies.

Street party.

The mayor and mayoress invite the people of Newport to a street party, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at Ysgol Bro Ingli. There will be games, an ice cream van, live music and competitions. Take your own plate of finger food to share.

Prehistoric fayre.

Castell Henllys will play host to a Prehistoric Fayre with demonstrations and workshops ranging from wood turning on a pole lathe and basketry to metal working coupled with demonstrations of Iron Age warfare and weaponry. Places are limited for the workshop so booking is essential on 01239 891319.

Street party.

The Mount, Milford Haven, will be celebrating with a street party.

Bring a plate of food down to the school field, where there'll be a barbecue, raffles, and a marquee (in case the weather takes a turn for the worst!) To book a place, telephone Kathy on 01646 692029.

Bonfire party.

Lambston Residents Association will be lighting two bonfires on Sutton Mountain, commencing at 7pm. Free entry and hot food will be available to purchase. The second bonfire will be lit before 10pm, as are others across the country. All welcome.

Pendine party.

Don't miss an action packed event in Pendine, Carmarthenshire. A whole host of beach activities, local produce stalls, music, children's entertainment, barbecues & hog roast, lighting the Jubilee beacon and a fireworks finale.

Tuesday, June 5th.

Memorial Park fundraiser.

Fundraising event for Fields in Trust, which will go towards the Memorial Park fund. From 10am until 4pm at the car park outside Asda, Pembroke Dock, there will be bouncy castles, kiddies' rides, local charities, catering and a fire engine.

Burton Jubilee Hall.

Celebrations will be taking place from 2pm at Houghton Sports Field. There'll be a pig roast and a yummy vegetarian option, bouncy castles, super slides, traditional fun and games - and a big marquee in case the worst happens! Free entry for everyone from the parish.

Whale of a time.

Goodwick Parrog, 10 am until late, take part in a giant whale dig, fancy dress, crab catching, tug of war, wandering minstrels, fish throwing, kite flying and more. There will also be a matinee showing of Moby Dick (part-filmed in Fishguard) at the 4U Theatre Gwaun.

Jubilee market.

Local producers' market, 9am-1pm, at St Dogmaels Abbey and Coach House visitors Centre.

Llanychaer raft race.

Bring your homemade raft down to the Green (opposite the Bridgend Inn) for judging at 1pm, then launch your creation (plus teddy bear captain!) into the River Gwaun. Follow it up to the bridge, where there will then be fun and games on the Green from 3pm and a Jubilee tea in the marquee. Then enjoy the Twmpath, and the live band at 6pm. Picnic in the park.

Everyone is welcome to Hook playing field for a family fun day with music and games. Dress in your best red, white and blue finery and take a picnic along from 12pm onwards. There will also be a Royalty-themed fancy dress competition, with prizes, for under-12s.

Ancient feast.

The ancient Celtic Feast of Beltaine will be celebrated at Castell Henllys with a Willow Workshop, Myths and Mysteries and Burning the Wicker Man. For more information visit www.pembrokeshirecoast.org.uk Street Party.

Lower Frog Street, Tenby, is having a party from 11am until 9pm. It will include a real-ale and cider festival, BBQ, hog roast, bouncy castle, rodeo bull, face painting, sumo suits, candy floss and lots more!

They hope to raise money for the Jubilee park fund, Help for Heroes, and The Harriet Davies Trust. There will also be a number of charity stalls including those from local charity shops. All ages are welcome.

Wednesday, June 6th.

Camrose WI.

Members will be dressing in red, white and blue and enjoying a buffet supper to celebrate HM Queen's Diamond Jubilee at their meeting at Camrose Community Centre. The meeting begins at 7.15pm and the Speaker will be Maria Britton, who will be demonstrating Cartonnage.

Saturday, June 9th.

Haven Drive's Got Talent.

Haven Drive, Hubberston, is putting on a tea party for local residents and guests. There'll also be a barbecue, bouncy castle, disco and Haven Drive's Got Talent competition in the evening. The party starts at 2pm.
