Assault defendant told jail likely

A Milford Haven man is “fully aware” he faces a jail sentence after he admitted an offence of assault.

Richard Roberts, aged 32, appeared at Swansea crown court on Friday to admit attacking John McKay on New Year’s Day causing him actual bodily harm.

His barrister, David LLoyd, said Roberts, of Oaklands, admitted responsibility but his recollection of the assault was poor.

“He is fully aware that he faces an immediate custodial sentence,” added Mr Lloyd.

Judge Keith Thomas agreed to postpone sentencing until a probation officer had prepared a report into Roberts’ background.

Roberts will be sentenced later this month and was granted bail meanwhile
