Charity dinner to raise funds for Chernobyl children visit to Pembrokeshire

11:19am Tuesday 26th June 2012

Organisers at a south Pembrokeshire charity are holding a British inspired dinner this weekend.

The south Pembrokeshire Link of Chernobyl Children’s Life Line need to raise some further cash to ensure their 2012 respite visit can go ahead.

Chairman, Marc Tierney explained: “We are on target to raise enough money so we should be welcoming children from the Ukraine in September, if two more scheduled events are well supported.

“We continue to have tremendous support from local people and businesses. The majority of the travel costs have now been covered, but we need to raise a few more pounds so we can take the 10 children and their leader to local attractions, cover meal costs and provide them with some basics like underwear, rain coats and good footwear when they arrive.”

The organisation is holding a Jubilee inspired event – a “Royal Gala Dinner” at the Haven Church, Pembroke on Saturday night 30th June. Tickets cost £15 for a four course dinner and musical entertainment.
