Kayakers rescued by St Davids lifeboat

Two kayakers who were caught on the turning tide were rescued by St Davids lifeboat yesterday (Thursday).

The city’s inshore lifeboat launched at 12.10pm, after Whitesands RNLI lifeguards reported seeing the kayak being swept along by the tide towards St Davids Head.

The two man inflatable kayak was discovered north of St Davids Head. Its occupants were unable to make it back safely ashore, because of the strength of the tide against them.

Coastguard HQ put out a radio call and charter boat, the Gower Ranger, stood by the kayak until the lifeboat arrived.

Once on scene the lifeboat took the kayakers onboard, and brought them back to shore at Whitesands beach where they were met by coastguards from St Davids.
