"Affront to democracy" unanimously overturned

An “affront to democracy” and one of the “worse decisions of the last council” was bought to a halt at yesterday’s meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council.

Cllr Bob Kilmister proposed that no time restriction be placed on answering questions submitted in writing at full council meetings and that supplementary questions, provided they related to the original written question or answer, be allowed from any member.

“We have the opportunity to correct one of the worse decisions that the last council took,” said Cllr Kilmister. “We can take this as a step forward, and a step back from the worse we achieved as a council. It is an affront to democracy to limit the time of discussions.”

Councillors voted unanimously in favour of the proposal.
