Dinner in memory of heart fundraiser Tom

A dinner in memory of a stalwart fundraiser for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) is being organised by his wife to mark the 30th anniversary of the Narberth branch of the charity tomorrow (Sunday).

The branch was formed by Dr Roy Davies and Tom and Edith Thomas after Tom had a multiple heart by-pass and wanted to give something back to the charity that helped save his life.

Tom enjoyed an extra 27 years of busy life after the operation, but sadly died in 2009.

Said Edith: “Tom always said that we needed to keep the flag flying, so I hope that people will come to support the dinner on Sunday, August 5th at Narberth Rugby Club.”

Over the years, the branch has raised thousands of pounds to enable BHF Cymru to provide lifesaving equipment in the local community, including defibrillators for the Bloomfield Centre in Narberth, Tenby and Pembroke leisure centre and Narberth and Crymych fire stations. The branch has also provided a cardiograph machine for the health centre in Narberth and also helped raise funds for a 3D heart scanner for Morriston Hospital.
