Changes at Withybush Hospital will not be as extensive as feared according to the Hywel Dda Health Board consultation document approved today (Monday).

A 12 week consultation period will start today, looking at changes to services across the three counties - which includes development of specialist treatment sites at Llanelli and Carmarthen.

In Pembrokeshire the biggest change is set to be the removal of Minor Injury Units from South Pembs and Tenby with treatment moved to GPs and staff redeployed at Withybush Hospital.

An orthopaedic centre of excellence will be developed at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli but day and short stay cases will remain at Withybush.

Changes to women's and children's services, particularly the Special Care Baby Unit will also be part of the consultation.

A public meeting will be held at Sir Thomas Picton School on September 20th as well as a further two locality consultations will be held at Fishguard Town Hall on October 17th and Kilgetty Community Centre on October 24th.
