St Davids lifeboat launches to capsized dinghy

St Davids RNLI inshore lifeboat and its volunteer crew launched to the aid of a laser type sailing dinghy, which had capsized throwing its male sailor into the sea at around 5pm yesterday (Tuesday).

The incident occurred near St Davids Head, and following a radio call by the coastguards to any vessels in the area two crafts responded, the fishing boat Chwarae Teg and the passenger boat Gower Ranger.

The fishing boat managed to get the male on board and right the dinghy, and secured a tow line to the casualty.

The lifeboat was on scene at 5.10pm and took over the rescue, taking the casualty under tow to Porthseli beach where they were met by a local coastguard team.

The lifeboat then returned to station rehousing at 5.30pm.
