Daring descent raises funds for yacht club

Twenty-one members of Pembrokeshire Yacht Club (PYC), some as young as five-years-old, abseiled down the Pembroke Castle keep on Sunday to raise money for new equipment.
With the help of Dave Parker, from Your Big Adventure, PYC were lucky enough to secure an abseiling event at Pembroke Castle, using the keep's 75 foot drop.
The participants were made up from instructors, young sailors, parents, committee members, friends and colleagues.
Five-year-old Issac Vines was the youngest to make the descent, in tandem with his father Mark, while the two youngest solo participants were six-year-olds Libby Smart and Bethan Owens.
The Milford Haven-based club has been striving to boost the number of members that complete their Royal Yachting Association levels in becoming competent and accomplished sailors.
The club operates using a bank of experienced volunteers, who give their free time to train new sailors, making a minimal charge. They rely on in-house funding, donations and sponsorship for new equipment.
The event raised more than £2200, which will go towards buying new double handed sailing dinghies.
