Police appeal after 86-year-old hit by car in Fishguard

Police are appealing for witnesses after an 86-year-old woman fractured her leg and tore muscles in her right shoulder, after she was struck by a car on Fishguard square on Sunday morning.

The woman was on her way to an 8am service at a local church when she was struck by the vehicle sometime between 7.50am and 8.15am outside the town hall.

The woman can be seen walking to the square on a nearby CCTV camera at 7.53am, but the area of the collision is not covered.

The female driver took the 86-year-old back to her home address and contacted her daughter to tell her that her mother had taken a fall.

The driver then left the woman without leaving any details or contacting the police.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "The only description of the car involved is that it was mid blue in colour, was smallish and had struck the lady to her right side, so may have come from the direction of the Lower Town area."
