Haverfordwest multi-storey electric car charging point powers green revolution
10:20am Saturday 8th September 2012 in News
THE first electric car charging station in the county is marking the start of a green revolution in motoring.
The charging post, which is located on the ground floor of the Haverfordwest Riverside multi-storey car park, is fitted with two sockets so two cars can power up at the same time.
The station will provide around six hours of journey time, depending on the make and model of the vehicle.
Cabinet member for environmental and regulatory services, Councillor Ken Rowlands, said: “Although the number of electric cars on the road is still relatively small, one of the reasons for this is the lack of charging points.
“We hope this new station in Haverfordwest will be the first of many in the county, enabling more and more drivers to adopt greener ways of motoring.”
The new charging point has been installed by Pembrokeshire County Council with funding from the Welsh Government as part of the Sustainable Travel centre project.
Drivers who want to use the charging station will need a special access card, which can be obtained from the county council for a oneoff £5 fee. However, motorists will be able to park and charge for free during an initial introductory period.

No more diesel, petrol fore courts, no more crazy fuel prices! Que's to fill the cars up like ordered chaos.
The towns and fringes, the lanes, streets and roads all free from that awful carbon dioxide leeching forth from the under belly of every car, well one day possibly..
What a neat idea.
