Two men are recovering from serious injuries after their speedboat collided with waves off St Anne’s Head on Sunday.

A Wales Air Ambulance spokesman said that a man was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales, in Cardiff, by the Swansea-based helicopter which arrived at the Mackerel stage at Milford Haven marina at 11.15am.

"The patient we airlifted was a 41-year-old male with multiple fractures to his legs," he said.

Another man, who was injured onboard the vessel, was treated by land ambulance paramedics and transferred to Withybush Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

The two men, believed to be from Dinas Powys, were heading from Angle to St Ann's Head when their speedboat fell off a wave and hit another one with force.

Dale Coastguard rescue team responded to the incident, along with the south Pembrokeshire sector manager, and Dyfed-Powys Police.

A Milford Haven Coastguard spokesman said: "We received a call from Milford Haven port control reporting a speed boat with two injured males, one with two suspected broken legs and the other with lower back injuries, after hitting a wave at speed."
