Bumper crop at farmers market harvest fayre
12:30pm Thursday 27th September 2012 in News
There’s a bumper crop at tomorrow (Friday’s) Harvest Fayre at Haverfordwest Farmers Market, with heaps of local autumn produce, cookery demos, hands-on activities, and much more.
The Harvest Fayre will take place between 9am and 3pm at Riverside Shopping. Local producers will be selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, local meat, fish and shellfish, fresh bread, free-range eggs, home-made preserves and cakes, and more.
Cookery demonstrations of seasonal recipes will take place from 10.30am onwards, with lots of ideas for autumn produce and recipe leaflets.
There will also be local marmalade and jam-tasting, home-brewing demos, autumn planting ideas, crab-dressing demonstrations, corn-dolly making and live music.
Many stallholders are holding quizzes to win their own produce and there will be a competition to win a hamper full of local market produce in the MacMillan Cancer Support World’s Biggest Coffee Morning with Carbone restuarant.
There are also fun activities for pre-schoolers who have the chance to make their own animals or birds from local vegetables.
Meanwhile, older children from local junior school Ysgol Glan Cleddau will be exhibiting their drawings and wire food sculptures inspired by the local harvest produce.
