Parents warned after school children approached by strangers in a van

Parents in Solva have been warned after a number of children were approached by a couple in a van on Monday night, asking for directions to an area of the village that is inaccessible to vehicles.

A letter was sent out to parents and guardians of pupils at Solva C.P. School by headteacher Dilwen Smith yesterday, detailing that the couple had asked children for directions and paid them £2 for helping them.

The letter concluded: "In light of recent events in Machynlleth we felt that as a school we should ensure that all parents/guardians were aware of this incident."

A Pembrokeshire County Council spokesman said it would be issuing safety information later today and police were aware of the incident.
