Staff and customers at beachfront Sands Cafe in Newgale were given a shock on Monday when a car ploughed into the front of the building.

Luckily no-one was injured and only a small amount of damage caused to the cafe and car in the incident which happened around 2.30pm on October 1st.

Owner Nicola Sanderson, who also runs New Surf, said: "We were having a little staff meeting in the corner when we heard an enormous bang!

"We thought some huge piece of equipment had fallen in the kitchen. We all rushed out and realised a poor old man and his family were sitting in the car, rammed between a post and the window."

Emergency services arrived quickly and a fire crew from St Davids made the area safe.

Nicola, who said it was fortuitous no-one was hurt, joked: "I know we need a refurb and are going to be decorating in the next couple of weeks but you don't need to go into the wall."
