F1 stars get help from GWR

A team of St Davids racing car stars are being given help on their way to the world finals of the F1 in Schools challenge in Abu Dhabi later this month.

This global multi-disciplinary challenge sees teams of students collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature balsa wood F1 cars powered by compressed air.

Teenagers from Ysgol Dewi Sant had the second fastest car at the F1 in schools national final and their Team Motion won the chairman’s award for best team identity, securing them a place in the world finals.

First Great Western (FGW) agreed to help get the winning team to and from the airport after being approached by AM Paul Davies.

FGW’s manager for the central region, Steve Tyler, said: “These kids have done amazingly well in reaching this final.

“First Great Western is committed to supporting the communities we serve and I am delighted to be able to help these young stars on their way to the world finals.”
