£22M solar park likely to be approved
11:27am Thursday 11th October 2012 in News
A £22M solar park, which would be one of the largest of its kind in the UK, looks set to be given the go-ahead for land north of Whitland.
The proposal, by the German company Kronos Solar, is being recommended for approval by Carmarthenshire County Council’s planning committee tomorrow (Thursday), despite objections.
The company is behind at least a dozen existing or pending solar parks in the UK, including one at Cosheston.
Last week, it asked to withdraw that application to Pembrokeshire County Council ahead of council planning officers calling for its refusal.
The five-field solar farm proposed at Caeremlyn Farm, Henllan Amgoed, would cover nearly 70 acres. More than 30 objections have been received from the public.
Two recent collisions on the nearby level crossing have prompted Network Rail to object because of the increase in traffic movements during construction.
