4CG shareholders to discuss developments tonight

A community share scheme to purchase the old police station and court house in Cardigan has now raised more than £40,000.

The campaign by community benefit company 4CG, which has already seen a considerable amount of interest, will end on October 31st .

Existing and new shareholders will receive additional information and a progress report on the
recent developments at tonight's (Friday's) shareholders’ meeting at 7pm in the market stores
building, Pwllhai.

Following a campaign in 2010, 4CG bought Cardigan’s once derelict Pwllhai site. The site now houses three shops, two offices, a country market stores, a museum site, a house and two car parks.

The current share scheme aims to buy Cardigan’s old police station and court house which back onto the Pwllhai site. The company’s volunteer directors are currently in negotiations with the owners.

It is hoped that the buildings could be used to promote tourism, events, conferences and local produce.

“There has been tremendous support once again from people near and far and the share holding funds have accumulated at a pace,” said Cris Tomos, 4CG secretary.

He said that with the new share offer people were buying into not just the police station and court house developments, but also the whole of the Pwllhai site.

“Those who missed out on the original share offer can now become part of this exciting community cooperative.”
