Lifeboat launched to missing swimmer

Tenby’s inshore lifeboat (ILB) was launched on Saturday to reports of a missing swimmer.

A guest at the resort’s Imperial Hotel contacted coastguards to say he had lost sight of a swimmer he had been watching from his room. He had last seen him between St Catherine's Island and Castle Beach.

The ILB, along with Tenby coastguards, was tasked to search the area. The boat searched the caves and rocks between Castle Beach and the Imperial Hotel before searching the shoreline between Paragon Beach and the lifeboat station.

As the lifeboat arrived back at Paragon Beach, coastguards told them that the swimmer had been seen by people on shore exiting the water and was safe and well. All units were stood down.
