Pembs youngsters head to Patagonia

Five Pembrokeshire youngsters are among a group of 22 from south Wales who set off for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Patagonia this morning (Wednesday).

The trip, organised by the Urdd and Mentrau Iaith Cymru, will see Cerys Harries, Guto Rhys Harries and Hanna Thomas from Ysgol y Preseli travel to South America with Catrin Raymond and Angharad Williams from Ysgol Bro Gwaun.

The youngsters will participate in community activities including workshops in local Welsh schools, visiting the local nursery and even competing in the Eisteddfod.

In Patagonia, Menter Patagonia officers will be there to welcome them and have organised a series of activities.

Efa Gruffudd Jones, Urdd's Chief Executive said:

"As a youth organisation we are always trying to offer our members unique and memorable experiences.

This visit is a great example as they will get a taste of the unique culture of Patagonia, and learn about the legendary history of the colony.

We are also very happy to be working with Mentrau Iaith Cymru and Menter Iaith Patagonia on this exciting project, offering a once in a life time experience to young people in Wales."
