2:13pm Friday 19th October 2012 in News
Nearly 40 countries from across the world will be represented at an important environmental meeting in Pembrokeshire this weekend.
The international Blue Flag National Operators' Meeting is being hosted in Tenby by Keep Wales Tidy.
The event concides with the programme's 25th year of issuing awards to beaches of only the highest quality.
Pembrokeshire currently has 13 Blue Flag beaches.
Welsh-born Hollywood actor Michael Sheen, who is a Keep Wales Tidy ambassador, has recorded a message to greet the delegates who are coming from 37 countries.
They will also be welcomed to Wales by representatives from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, Pembrokeshire Couonty Council and the Welsh Government.
Said Keep Wales Tidy chief executive, Lesley Jones: "Keep Wales Tidy is delighted to host this important conference for the Blue Flag in its 25th year.
"I look forward to joining international members to find ways to improve the already-excellent standards set in management and promotion of Blue Flag beaches.
"This ia also an opportunity to showcase Wales's spectacular coastline and its tourist potential."
