Hungry man "stole to eat"
9:00am Sunday 21st October 2012 in News
A 27-year-old man stole some chicken and a bottle of cola from the town’s Cooperative store because he had not eaten for three days and did not have any money to pay for food, a court was told.
Shaun Andrew Clawson, of Cromwell Court, Station Road, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to stealing the items from the shop on August 29th.
The court heard Clawson was in breach of a conditional discharge imposed in November 2010 for a shoplifting offence, which was due to end shortly.
Magistrates in Haverfordwest fined Clawson £90 and ordered him to pay costs of £60 and a victim surcharge of £15.
He was also fined £75 for his previous shoplifting offence because he had breached a conditional discharge.
