"Distressed" woman had joints in bag

Police officers called to the scene of a distressed Milford Haven woman discovered four cannabis joints in her handbag, a court has heard.

Jolene Rees, of Yorke Street, pleaded guilty to possession of the class B drug at Haverfordwest magistrates court last Tuesday.

Officers discovered a ‘distressed’ Rees in Charles Street at 2.50am on August 28th.

Paramedics were called to the scene to treat her and the joints containing cannabis resin were discovered.

Defending solicitor Jonathan Webb said a friend had given the drugs to Rees valued at £10 and she intended on smoking them.

“She is a very vulnerable young lady,” he added.

The court heard how the 26- year-old was in breach of a nine month conditional discharge issued in April.

District Judge Vivian Manning-Davies said: “You plainly have your difficulties however taking cannabis is not going to help.”

Judge Manning-Davies sentenced Rees to a six-month conditional discharge and took no action over her breach of the previous discharge.

She was ordered to pay costs of £85.
