A FATHER-OF-TWO is to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and open an accountancy practice in Carmarthen and Lampeter, 50 years after his family's firm originally opened its doors.

Deian Owen, 31, from Penygroes, is set to open HB Enoch and Owen Ltd, 50 years after his grandfather, Brin Enoch, set up one of Carmarthenshire's most successful family-run accountancy firms.

Mr Owen said it was a lifetime ambition of his to open up a practice after graduating with a first class honours and spending eight years working for PricewaterhouseCoopers accountants in Swansea.

Deian is qualified as both a Chartered Accountant (ACA) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).

He said: "This is something I've dreamt of since I was a young boy and it really is an honour to follow in my grandfather's footsteps.

"The beauty of using a family-run practice like ourselves is that clients can be assured we are going to look after their best interests, particularly as we have a strong affinity to the local area.

"My grandfather and uncle already have a fantastic reputation in Carmarthenshire and beyond for providing a professional and friendly service and I'm looking forward to making sure that reputation continues, serving the community where I have been brought up."

Mr Owen is a fluent Welsh speaker, and specialises in the taxation of individuals and owner-managed businesses. He has expertise in succession planning, inheritance tax and capital gains tax.

Helping Deian at the new practice is Clive Enoch, who is the son of Brin Enoch. Clive has been in practice for 30 years, specialising in farm accounts and small businesses.

Mr Enoch said: "This is an exciting new challenge for me and I'm immensely proud that Deian is carrying on the professional traditions of my family."

HB Enoch & Owen Ltd's office will be at the Old Vicarage, Picton Terrace, Carmarthen (opposite the Welsh Government Office). An office in Lampeter will open in the near future.
