TWO established west Wales businesses – Whitland-based Landsker and St Davids’ TYF Group – have created a winning consortium.

The syndicate has recently been appointed to provide specialist support to social enterprises and registered social landlords across Wales through a new £1m support scheme.

Building Enterprise is a two-year project led by Community Housing Cymru - the membership organisation for registered social landlords in Wales - with support from Charity Bank and funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The project was developed in response to the Welsh Government’s social enterprise action plan. It is designed to encourage collaboration between social enterprises and housing associations to strengthen services and benefit local communities.

The programme will help 50 Welsh organisations scale up support for communities by encouraging innovation and creating conditions for viable social enterprises which can support housing associations deliver and improve key services.

The project will use the social housing sector’s unique position to create and maintain jobs, training and skills development. The aim is to create a sustainable cycle of investment and growth in communities.

TYF group chief executive Andy Middleton said: “In the face of decreasing government support and increasing demand, the challenges facing social housing organisations and the tenants they serve has never been greater.

“It’s a privilege to be able to support registered social landlords and their communities with a scheme that’s been designed to deliver practical, social outcomes”.

Landsker is one of west Wales’ largest business service consultancies.

TYF Group specialise in sustainable innovation, education and personal development. They created a consortium with the support of eight other Welsh businesses including Providence Training, Acanthus Holden, Eversheds and Telemat, with skills ranging from business planning and enterprise through to architecture, ICT, legal services and finance.
