A WHITLAND businesswoman has branched out into the world of chocolate, thanks to a county business initiative.

Leeann Smith, who owns and runs W3 Web designs, joined the INSPIRE project at Pembroke Dock’s Bridge Innovation Centre with a view to expanding her business portfolio.

After exploring a couple of ideas she came up with the tasty idea of making her own chocolates and setting up a totally new arm to the business.

She created her own chocolate recipes in the workshops and by using a specialist printer is able to personalise and commercially brand her goods.

Her tasty diversion has certainly paid off as she now has contracts with Toyota Haverfordwest, Gardinia Windows and Doors, and Y Garth Bed & Breakfast. And her latest order is from the national Mercure hotel chain.

She also has her own website www.chocolatesbyme.co.uk for direct sales and, marketing via Facebook, ships all over the world.

“I just love making chocolates and am delighted that the products are so well liked,” said Leeann, who comes from Whitland.

“The enquiries have been amazing, so I am looking now to take the next step up and expand using larger machinery.”

Inspire project manager Peter Lord said he was delighted at Leeann’s success.

“This is wonderful news. Leeann is evidence that real passion and hard work can lead to success,” he added.

“In truth this is something that business support cannot teach. We provided the tools and support she needed, but she put in the imagination and leg work.”
