A HAVERFORDWEST contact centre has been honoured at a special awards ceremony at Cardiff City Stadium hosted by ‘Chatty Man’ television star Alan Carr.

The Barclays Welsh language contact centre took home the best community initiative award, sponsored by Buzz Wales, for its contribution to the Welsh contact centre industry.

Contact centre manager Faith Wright said: “With a team of fluent Welsh speakers dedicated to outstanding customer service, we hope to continue to increase the number of Barclays customers choosing to conduct their banking enquiries in Welsh.

“Not only are we pleasing existing customers but we are actively contributing to winning new business, as customers identify the importance of Welsh language services and the impact the centre is making within the local community.”

Six hundred guests attended the prestigious Welsh Contact Centre Awards.

The awards, which have been running for 16 years, celebrate the excellence of an industry that employs 30,000 people and contributes around £600m a year into the Welsh economy.

Sandra Busby, managing director of the Welsh Contact Centre Forum which organises the awards, said: “The contact centre industry contributes a huge amount to Wales’ economy, and it is really important that its excellent work continues to be recognised.

"Everyone who received an award should be very proud of themselves, as they have been selected as the top of their field in an industry brought alive by more than 30,000 people.”
