A PEMBROKESHIRE success story has been recognised by the National Park.

Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company - famous for its delicious seaside delicacies - was recognised as the business making the best use of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park at the recent Radio Pembrokeshire Business Awards.

The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company, which uses local seafood and seashore foraged ingredients to create its products, topped a public poll to win the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Award at the ceremony held at the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven.

The winners fought off stiff competition from fellow finalists Celtic Quest Coasteering and Pembrokeshire Moments Photography to top the poll.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority chairman Councillor Mike James said: “The finalists demonstrated three very different ways businesses can use the National Park’s world-class environment and landscape in order to thrive.

“It also demonstrates the value of the National Park brand as a vital marketing tool for local businesses.

“I would like to congratulate the Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company on their win and hope this award highlights the National Park’s vital role in supporting the local economy.

“Research published last year shows that the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park supports over 7,000 jobs and contributes £187million gross value added to the Welsh economy.”

The Pembrokeshire Beach Food company is well-known for its Café Mor beach shacks, which have been trading around Pembrokeshire and beyond since 2011.

Café Mor’s previous accolades include being named best vendor at the Best British Street Food Awards in 2011 and best street food/takeaway at the 2014 BBC Radio 4 Food And Farming Awards.

As well as Café Mor, the Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company also sells products such as Welshman’s Caviar (dried laver seaweed) and Ship’s Biscuits (savoury fish shaped crackers with traditional laverbread).

Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company managing director Jonathan Williams added: “Without growing up with the inspiring natural beauty of Pembrokeshire and knowing what it has to offer in terms of the wealth of foraged food, the Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company would never have happened.

“We’re delighted to have received this recognition at the awards and can’t thank everyone who voted enough.”
